Working with External Vaults

External Vaults is a feature that allows you to connect to the Vaults shared by other Amazon Glacier users.

It also allows you to work with Amazon Glacier under limited IAM Accounts, in cases when you have access only to one or multiple Vaults and do not have the ListVaults permission.

To add an External Vault:

1. Start FastGlacier and click Vaults -> Add External Vault..

Vaults menu

click Vaults -> Add External Vault..

Add External Vault dialog will appear:

  • Vault Name - the name of the vault you want to connect to
  • Vault Region - the region where the shared vault is located
  • Vault Owner's Account Id - an Account Id of the vault owner. Leave it empty if the vault belongs to your account.

3. Click the Add button.

Now you can work with the vault according to the permissions that are assigned to you.
